Fall River Police Department stops 23 vehicles during “citizens quality of life” operation
Fall River residents have had complaints about vehicles on “the ave” and FRPD recently conducted an operation to help cut down on the issues raised.
According to Lieutenant Gregory Wiley, on September 10, The Fall River Police Department conducted an operation in the areas of Plymouth Avenue and Rhode Island Avenue due to the recent increase in motor vehicle infractions. Members of the Special Operations Division conducted the operation on the evening of September 10th which led to twenty three motor vehicle citations being issued for loud exhausts, loud radios, and various other motor vehicle infractions.
The Fall River Police Department stated that they are aware of this ongoing issue which has affected the quality of life for the citizens of Fall River and that the Fall River Police Department plans to conduct similar operations in the future to combat these issues.

Good. Let’s have more of this. Sick and tired of all the motorcycles and cars with deafening exhaust systems and obnoxiously loud radios cruising around my block.

Plymouth AVE has been the cruising ground for teens since the 1940s. police need to patrol neighborhoods that were once considered quiet. Mayor Coogan, I believe, lives on a dead end between New Boston Road and Oak Grove Cemetery; very quiet. I live on Rock St.,just up from the 4-way stop off President Ave. between PIERCE and ROCK Street. This is where the noise and action is. Kids in old Toyotas, VWs, etc. scream through the stop sign ( In FALL RIVER, STOP SIGNS and RED LIGHTS are just SUGGESTIONS.)and continue up the hill toward the next STOP sign, a 1/4 mile up the hill. Rock Street is a 1-way thoroughfare that goes from President Ave. all the way to downtown, with a myriad of connecting streets branching both east and west. I would recommend the Mayor park in the Church of Christ parking lot any weekend to witness the blatant disregard and dangerous noise and other violations the neighborhood is powerless to do anything about.Sadly, the area is deemed Historic Highlands, go figure that!
