Fall River Police Department seeing uptick in scams targeting the community; here is the latest

The Fall River Police Department is warning the public that there has been an uptick in phone scams targeting the community.
Scammers are posing as government agencies, banks, and even local businesses, trying to trick people into giving away personal information or money.
Do NOT share personal details, banking info, or Social Security numbers over the phone.
Do NOT send money, gift cards, or make payments to someone you don’t know.
Hang up and verify the caller’s identity through official channels.
If you receive a suspicious call and aren’t sure if it’s a scam, call the non-emergency line for the police department at (508) 676-8511 before taking any action.
FRPD asks the public to stay alert and share this information with friends and family—especially those who may be more vulnerable to scams.
“Let’s keep our community safe!”
