Fall River Police Department mourning loss of K9
The Fall River Police Department is mourning the loss of a K9 that was previously on the force.
In a social media post, the FRPD remembered K9 Blek today who recently passed away.
Blek served the Fall River area community from 2010 to 2016 at which time he retired from service.
Blek’s long time handler, Officer Gary Pasternak, was understandably saddened by the news.
“It is with a heavy heart that I announce the passing of K-9 BLEK (FRPD Retired). BLEK served the community proudly from 2010-2016. BLEK also served Swansea, Somerset, Westport, Taunton, Raynham, and Sandwich and other commuinites if needed. Being a dual-purpose K-9, trained in patrol and ballistics, BLEK was always available to serve.”
“BLEK was always attentive, alert, and protective of me, for which I am grateful.”
“I would like to thank Deputy Chief Furtado and Sgt. Richard for their guidance, patience, and support.”
“BLEK will be missed.”
