The Fall River Police Department is currently recruiting and accepting applications for volunteer Auxiliary Police Officers. Duties are traffic control and direction at parades and processions, also crime prevention and security details at community and charitable events.

Eligibility requirements are U.S.A. citizens age 18 to 65, residents of Fall River, Freetown, Somerset, Swansea, and Westport only, no criminal felony record, current Massachusetts driver’s license, excellent health and physical fitness, good moral character, high school graduate or general education equivalency certificate, successfully complete a thorough background investigation and interview board. Weekend availability is imperative and a minimum of 4 volunteer hours per week including a monthly meeting and training class is mandatory.
Successful candidates must successfully complete the Auxiliary Police Officer Basic Training Program for recruits. Instruction will be classroom, field, and on job training. Upon appointment equipment and uniforms are issued by the Department. The training will be automated external defibrillator, baton, cardio pulmonary resuscitation, Department rules/regulations-polices/procedures, and organization, first responder first aid, radio communications, report writing, patrol procedures, police vehicle operation, and traffic.
