The Fall River Police Department CAST Unit made a drug arrest over the weekend after a pursuit.

According to police, on Saturday, CAST Detectives were conducting proactive patrols when they observed two males engaging in suspicious activity outside of a known drug-involved residence.

Further surveillance revealed 34-year-old Andre Rego operating a vehicle linked to previous drug investigations, despite having a suspended license. Due to the suspected drug transaction as well as the suspended license to operate a motor vehicle, an attempt was made to conduct a motor vehicle stop. Rego fled in the vehicle and was later located on Pebble Street. He exited the vehicle which led to a foot pursuit which resulted in Rego being apprehended.

A search of the vehicle uncovered approximately 4.1 grams of fentanyl.

Rego was arrested and charged with possession of a Class A drug with intent to distribute, operating with a suspended license (third offense), resisting arrest, and failure to stop for police.
