Fall River Police Department arrests man on several gun charges, held without bail

The Fall River Police Department made a recent arrest on gun charges.

According to police, on Friday, Neighborhood Engagement & Enforcement Team (N.E.E.T.) officers were on proactive patrol in the Corky Row neighborhood when they observed a known drug-involved female exit the passenger side of a red sedan after a brief and suspicious ride. Believing a drug transaction may have taken place, the officers conducted a motor vehicle stop.

The driver, a 36-year-old male, was identified as Andres A. Perez Melendez. During the investigation, he was found to be in possession of a firearm without a license to carry. The firearm was also equipped with an extended magazine. Perez Melendez was placed under arrest.

According to court records, at arraignment on Monday, Perez Melendez pled not guilty and weas held without bail.

His next court appearance is a probable cause hearing scheduled for September 23rd.
