Fall River Police Department announces details on The Procession of the Romeiros

The Fall River Police Department has announced details and their involvement in The Procession of the Romeiros on Friday.
According to FRPD the procession will travel throughout the city, drawing hundreds of participants. The Romeiros are a religious procession that is a tradition in the Azores, Portugal, and particularly prominent in Fall River, MA. It involves pilgrims walking from church to church, praying, and singing during Lent, especially on Good Friday. The tradition began in the Azores, where islanders marched to pray after experiencing volcanic activity and natural disasters. In the United States, it was brought by Azorean immigrants and is now a significant event in Fall River and other cities in the region.
The department states that the Motor Vehicle Enforcement Unit will be on the front lines, coordinating safe passage through intersections, managing traffic flow, and escorting the Romeiros to each of their destinations with professionalism and care.
