Fall River Police CAST Team arrest, summons, 5 on drug charges, active warrants, after neighborhood complaints
Several Fall River residents were arrested on drug charges this weekend.
According to Fall River Police, 103 and 128 Eighteenth Street have been the subject of recent complaints within the neighborhood for illegal drug activity. The CAST Team began investigations into these locations and executed search warrants resulting in drug seizures and several arrests.
On Saturday, Members of the Community Action and Suppression Team (CAST), Neighborhood Engagement and Enforcement Team (NEET) and Housing Unit, conducted a search warrant at 103 Eighteenth Street.
The target of the search warrant was Jillian Varela.
As a result of the search warrant, an amount of crack cocaine and fentanyl was seized from the residence. Varela was placed under arrest and charged with Possession Class A Drug Subsequent Offense and Possession Class B Drug Subsequent Offense.
Simultaneously, they executed a search warrant at 128 Eighteenth Street.
The target of the search warrant was John Teixeira.
As a result of the search warrant, an amount of crack cocaine was seized from the residence.
Teixeira was placed under arrest and charged with Possession Class B Drug. Tanya Correa and Carlos Lima were located inside of the residence and were placed under arrest for charges pertaining to active warrants. Melissa McDermott also was inside of the residence and was found to be in possession of Suboxone. McDermott was summoned into court for the charge of Possession Class B Drug.
Police stated that citizens of the neighborhood were outside of their residences clapping and expressing their gratitude for their response and enforcement.
“We are focused on addressing quality of life issues in our neighborhoods to rid them of this type of activity. These issues may be small to some, but they are a major concern for the citizens living in these areas and we are doing our best in prioritizing these matters.”
