Fall River Police are investigating after a reported stabbing and then an alleged assault of an officer and paramedic on Monday.

According to Detective Sergeant Moses Pereira, at approximately 10:30 p.m., officers responded to an address on Home Street in response to a report of a fight in progress. When officers arrived, there was no active disturbance outside.

As they continued to investigate the incident, their assistance was requested by the occupant of a second-floor apartment. Once inside, they discovered a lone stabbing victim in a bedroom. He was transported to St. Luke’s Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The man has since been released from the hospital.

As this investigation was occurring, officers encountered an intoxicated female outside of the residence. Due to her level of intoxication, a medical rescue was requested to transport her to a local hospital. While being assisted by rescue personnel, the female physically assaulted a paramedic and bit a female officer. She was transported to a local hospital for medical evaluation.

Due to her assaultive behavior, Irianis Suarez-Rivera was placed under arrest and charged with disturbing the peace, disorderly conduct, assault and battery, assault, assault and battery on a police officer, assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, and breaking and entering.

The incident remains under investigation by the Major Crimes Division.
