Fall River Police arrest victim and suspect after weekend stabbing, alleged robbery, break-in
Fall River Police arrested both a suspect and victim after multiple incidents over the weekend.
According to police, on Sunday, at just before 3:45 p.m., Officers responded to the 300 block of North Main Street for reports of a male suffering from multiple stab wounds inside a vehicle with several flat tires.
The male who was stabbed, identified as 34-year-old Vincent Valois, indicated that the stabbing had occurred at a residence on the 200 block of Pine Street. Valois was transported to a nearby hospital to receive treatment for his injuries. Officers and Detectives responded to the Pine Street address, where they collected evidence and obtained statements from involved parties and witnesses.
Through the investigation, it was determined that Valois drove to and entered an apartment belonging to 43-year-old William Paiva, despite not being welcome inside. Statements revealed that after a brief interaction, Valois allegedly stole $100 and several prescription pills from Paiva and attempted to flee. Paiva then chased Valois outside, where a fight ensued, resulting in Valois being stabbed in the neck and back. Valois attempted to escape in his vehicle, during which Paiva allegedly slashed multiple tires.
On Sunday, Paiva was arrested and charged with Assault and Battery with a Dangerous Weapon and Malicious Damage to a Motor Vehicle.
On Monday, Valois was arrested and charged with Breaking and Entering Daytime for Felony, Unarmed Robbery, and Assault and Battery.
At Monday’s arraignment, Paiva pled not guilty and was issued bail of $10,000 surety/$1,000 cash.
Valois pled not guilty and was committed to the Bristol County House of Correction in lieu of having posted bail in the amount $5,000 bond/$500 cash, returnable for a November 5th probable cause hearing.
