Fall River Police arrest man on drug trafficking while on GPS in connection to fatal shooting
The Fall River Police Department arrested a man on Friday that was out on bail on another charge.
According to police, members of the Fall River Police Department CAST Unit, working alongside ESU, executed a search warrant at a residence on the 200 block of Hamlet Street in connection with a crack cocaine investigation.
Upon arrival, detectives detained the target suspect of the search warrant, 36-year-old Leon Shelby outside the residence. Shelby is currently on GPS monitored bail for the charge of Accessory After the Fact (murder) in connection to a 2023 fatal shooting in Brockton.
During the search, detectives located multiple packages totaling to just over 92 grams of suspected cocaine and crack cocaine, multiple digital scales, packaging materials, a drug ledger, and more than six thousand dollars in cash. All contraband was seized and transported to the police station for evidence processing.
Shelby was placed under arrest and charged with -Trafficking in Cocaine (36 grams or more, less than 100 grams).
According to court records, at his arraignment, he pled not guilty and was held without bail pending a dangerousness hearing scheduled for Monday.
