Fall River Police arrest city man after pointing gun at victim, grabbing officer’s gun
A Fall River man was arrested on several charges after allegedly pointing a gun at a man and later grabbing an officer’s gun.
According to Detective John Robinson, on April 13th, Fall River Police Officer David DelValle responded to K & S Laundromat at 1001 South Main Street in response to a lethal weapon call. Officers Tyler Paquette, Eric Pacheco, David Medeiros, and Street Supervisor Brian Cabral responded to assist.
Upon arrival to the scene, officers learned a 41-year-old man from the State of Washington was approached by Luis Negron, 41, of 559 Ridge Street Fall River, who was brandishing a firearm. Robinson stated that Negron accused the man of having an affair with his girlfriend while pointing his gun at the victim. Negron demanded the victim get into a vehicle that was being repaired. When the victim refused, Negron got in and attempted to take the vehicle, however, the vehicle would not start due to it being disabled. Negron then fled the area in a vehicle driven by a female. Witnesses were able to get a registration number and gave it to Officer DelValle.
Later, officers responded to the Ridge Street home that was tied to the vehicle registration and came upon the truck involved in the escape along with the female driver. Officers were allowed entry into the residence by the female to search for Negron. During the search, officers located two rooms on the second level of the home that contained a total of 99 marijuana plants. Officers then requested and received a search warrant due to the discovery of the plants.
During the second search from the warrant, Officer Zachery Dupere located Negron hiding in the basement. Negron refused to submit to officer commands and fought with Dupere by grabbing his firearm. Officers Chelsea Campellone and DelValle assisted in the struggle to take Negron into custody. Negron continued to kick and resist before being subdued by the officers.
Negron was arrested on an array of charges including Carjacking W/ Firearm, Assault Dangerous Weapon, Attempt to Commit a Crime, Assault and Battery to Disarm a Police Officer, Assault with a Dangerous Weapon, Assault & Battery on a police officer, and Cultivating Class D Marijuana.
