Fall River Police have arrested a man on multiple charges after an incident over the weekend.

According to Det. Lieutenant Moses Pereira, at approximately 3:00 a.m. on Saturday, officers responded to Canned Heat, located at 52 Ferry Street, in response to an alarm activation at the business.

Upon arrival, officers encountered 23-year-old Emanuel Gomes, at the rear of the business. Gomes was in possession of a trash bag filled with miscellaneous items to include an Apple iPhone, miscellaneous coins, and several red bull drinks. Gomes indicated that he had stored these items at the rear of the business earlier in the day and had returned to retrieve them.

After speaking with an employee who had responded to the alarm activation, officers discovered that several items missing from the business matched several of the items in the bag Gomes had been carrying.

Gomes later admitted that he had broken into the business and taken several items from inside.

Gomes was arrested and charged with breaking and entering into a building in the nighttime, larceny from a building, and breaking into a depository.

On Tuesday at his arraignment, Gomes pled not guilty and was released on personal recognizance.

His next court appearance is scheduled for December.
