Fall River personnel, Coast Guard, Massachusetts State Police, respond to boating accident on Taunton River that has caused multiple injuries
Crews are currently on scene of a boating accident that has left people injured.
According to Deputy Chief Barden Castro, at approximately 9:45 p.m., Fall River Police Communications received an emergency call for a boating accident on the Taunton River.
Preliminary information reveals that a boat struck a pier at the end of New Street. According to information he has received, Castro stated it would appear that the area is near the former Shell Oil Pier.
Multiple injuries are being reported and police and fire personnel are on scene aiding the injured.
The United States Coast Guard, MA Environmental Police, and MA State Police have all been contacted for their resources.
The Fall River Harbor Master is on scene and coordinating the efforts.
As emergency personnel are still on scene, Castro had limited information and did not have a total count on those injured although at least 1 person was transported to Rhode Island Hospital for treatment of unspecified injuries.
