Fall River, New Bedford, Freetown, 3 of 19 Massachusetts communities left in the red in COVID-19 report

Massachusetts saw a decrease in cases, active cases, positive test rate, and hospitalizations in Thursday’s COVID-19 report.

Massachusetts saw 1,410 more positive cases announced today. A decrease from Wednesday’s report. The 7 day weighted average positive test rate decreased to 1.75%. Sunday’s 1.73% was the lowest it had been since October 23rd.

Massachusetts had seen 1,553 more positive cases announced yesterday.

The Massachusetts Department of Health statistics show a rise in total confirmed cases to 554,630 with 44 more reported dead (42 confirmed, 2 probable) for a total of 16,296 (15,967 confirmed, 329 probable).

The overall amount of tests administered in Massachusetts is now 16,522,351 after 102,362 new molecular tests.

The 7 day average of confirmed COVID-19 deaths is currently 40.

Estimated active cases saw a decrease to 27,763.

Hospitalizations have increased in 93 of the last 165 days and 68 of the last 124, but saw a decrease of 14, to lower the total to 741. COVID-19 hospitalizations continue to decrease as of late as there were 2,428 in the Bay State on January 4th. November 14th was the last time that COVID-19 hospitalizations were this low.

Weekly COVID-19 Public Health Report

According to the March 4th report, Fall River has a 22,7 Average Daily COVID-19 Rate per 100,000 population (Last 14 days) (27.0 last week). New Bedford saw a decrease to 23.6 (was 31.6). Westport also saw a decrease to 18.3 (was 26.4), Swansea is at 20.2 and was 27.3 last week. Somerset also saw a decrease as they sit at 21.2 (was 22.8). Freetown decreased to 32.4 from 35.5. Dartmouth is currently at 23.9 after seeing 27.7 last week. Acushnet saw 31.4 (was 41.7).

19 Massachusetts communities are still in the red (high risk). Blackstone, Chicopee, Clinton, Fall River, Freetown, Hadley, Haverhill, Lawrence, Ludlow, Lynn, Methuen, New Bedford, Peabody, Plainville, Springfield, Sterling, Sutton, West Bridgewater, and Weymouth.
