A Fall River native got back into the octagon Saturday, and also the win column, after beating a former champion in her previous fight.

Strawweight Tecia (Torres) Pennington (15-7) took on 11-5 Luana Pinheiro of Brazil at UFC Fight Night at UFC Apex in Las Vegas.

All three judges scored the fight 29-28 Pennington.

While it seemed as though Pennington was in control through most of the fight, the pair did have several back-and-forth exchanges.

Pennington was coming off a victory in October against California’s Carla Esparza (20-7) in UFC 307 at Delta Center in Salt Lake City.

The Tiny Tornado won by unanimous decision taking all three cards 29-28, 29-28, and 30-27.

Esparza retired after the fight which was planned to be her last.
