Fall River mother and son killed in fatal shooting being remembered as fundraiser created
A Fall River mother and son killed in a double fatal shooting are being remembered.
According to Bristol County District Attorney Thomas Quinn, II, on Friday, at approximately 8:05 p.m. Fall River Police received a 911 call to 431 Barnes Street for a double shooting.
Upon arrival, police located 25-year-old Nicholas Almeida and his mother 54-year-old Elizabeth Almeida both suffering from gunshot wounds. Both victims were transported to a local hospital and pronounced deceased.
The suspect, identified as 54-year-old Arlington Cole, who was in a dating relationship with Elizabeth Almeida, was located at the scene along with a firearm. The suspect has been charged at this time with two counts of Assault and Battery by Means of a Dangerous Weapon causing Serious Bodily Injury.
Scanner transmissions revealed a complainant made a call to dispatch stating that he just shot his wife and son and that the gun was on the kitchen table.
Those who knew Nick and Liz have shared a common theme. They were the sweetest people you could meet.
Nick loved fishing and was known for his sense of humor while Liz was a great mom who welcomed Nick’s friends into her home like they were family.
A GoFundMe fundraiser has been created for funeral expenses.
The shooting is being investigated by the Massachusetts State Police Detective Unit assigned to the Bristol County District Attorney’s Office along with the Fall River Police Department.
