Fall River mayoral second runner-up Gabriel “Boomer” Amaral picks up petition for citywide recount

FALL RIVER – Mayoral second runner-up Gabriel “Boomer” Amaral picked up a petition to prompt a citywide recount after Tuesday’s citywide election showed him trailing by 225 votes, according to unofficial results.

He now has until Nov. 14 at 5 p.m. to deliver the necessary paperwork, said elections chairman Ryan Lyons.

Amaral must get signed permission from each of the nine election wardens and at least 10 voter signatures from each of those wards.

Coogan, who is likely entering his fourth term, unofficially received 5,841 votes to Amaral’s 5,616.
