Fall River Mayoral Debate will feature Paul Coogan and Gabrial Boomer Amaral
Fall River Reporter will host a mayoral debate on September 4 from 6-7:15pm at the Liberal Club at 20 Star Street in Fall River, Massachusetts. The event is free and open to the public, with a maximum capacity of 350 in the debate hall.
All five mayoral candidates have been invited, but only incumbent Mayor Paul Coogan and Gabriel Boomer Amaral are expected to attend. Christopher Silvia announced on Sunday that he has suspended his campaign, and the Caros Cesar’s campaign stated they won’t attend, first stating he will be busy meeting voters, then later making a baseless claim that Fall River Reporter manipulated our Podcast with Paul Cogan.
A limited amounts of food will be available at 5:30pm to include pizza donated by Fiorentina Italian Kitchen (1833 N Main Street, Fall River), chicken wings with sauces donated by Scotties Pub (202 Pleasant Street, Fall River), and cacoila (pulled pork), chicken Mozambique and some baked bean sandwiches (for those that don’t eat meat) donated by Avo’s Feast (1601 Pleasant Street, Fall River).
For those who can’t attend in person, the debate will also be streamed live on Fall River Reporter’s Facebook page and on Fall River Community Media TV.
The preliminary election for mayor is scheduled for September 16. Massachusetts residents can register to vote online here.
