Fall River man tased after moving toward officers with knife
At approximately 9:30 p.m. on April 25th, Officers of The Fall River Police Departments Uniform Division were dispatched to the area of 695 Bedford Street looking for a male carrying a knife and cutting things.
Police canvassed the area looking for the suspect and Kevin Taro, 45, of Fall River was seen carrying a large knife in front of the Boys and Girls Club on 803 Bedford Street. Taro was then confronted by Officers. Officers ordered the suspect to drop the knife, but Taro failed to do so. Taro then moved towards the Officers and raised the knife to waist level. A Taser was discharged in an attempt to subdue the suspect. After a struggle to gain control of the knife, Officers found that Taro had actually tied the knife to his wrist. A second shock from the Taser was administered by FRPD and he complied. After the second Taser, the knife was removed from Taro’s hand and he was handcuffed.
Taro is charged with 2 counts of Assault with a Dangerous Weapon – Knife, Disorderly Conduct, Disturbing the Peace, and Resisting Arrest.
