A Fall River man has pled guilty after going on a rampage downtown.

According to Detective John Robinson, at just after 9:00 a.m. on July 12th, 2019, Nickey Ricks, then 32, went into both Santander and Bank Five banks at 141 and 79 North Main Street where, while armed with a hammer, he demanded $5000 from the tellers.

After Ricks was refused by the tellers at both locations, he destroyed glass windows, tables, and doors on his way out.

He was located on Purchase Street by Officer Zachary Dupere who placed him into custody with Sgt. James Thorpe. Prior to being restrained, Ricks smashed Officer Dupere’s cruiser windshield.

No cash was taken.

According to court records, Ricks was indicted in Fall River Superior Court in September of 2019 on charges of Assault to Rob (2 counts), Vandalize Property (3 counts), Assault with a Dangerous Weapon (2 counts), and Carrying a Dangerous Weapon.

Several competency hearings were held since the indictment over 5 years ago. A change of plea hearing was held on Wednesday where Ricks pled guilty.

Court records stated that Ricks was sentenced to not less than and not more than 2 years and 301 days in jail, however, he had already served 2,064 days which deemed all sentences to have already been served.
