Bristol County District Attorney Thomas Quinn, III has announced that a 21-year-old man from Fall River pled guilty in the Fall River Superior Court to Manslaughter.

Xavien Figueroa-Valcarcel was sentenced by the Honorable Raffi Yessayan to a State Prison sentence of 9 to 13 1/2 years. The case was prosecuted by Assistant District Attorney Jason Mohan.

On March 14, 2024, at approximately 11:40 a.m., Fall River Police received several 911 calls regarding a male being shot in the middle of Rock Street.  When police arrived, they located 18-year-old, Colus Mills-Good suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.  Mills-Good was transported for treatment to a local hospital where he was pronounced deceased while undergoing surgery.  Mills-Good was conscious and alert during his transport but he declined to identify his shooters.

Police investigation determined that Mills-Good had been walking up Rock Street towards the Resiliency Prepatory Academy High School when a vehicle approached and three shooters exited.  Police were able to track the vehicle and later determined that Figueroa-Valcarcel was driving the vehicle at the time of the shooting.  He had no criminal record prior to this incident.

Mills-Good was a student at Resiliency Prep where he was set to graduate.

“The defendant was the driver of a car that contained several defendants who were involved in the senseless day time shooting of the victim.  The evidence established that this defendant did not have the intent to kill the victim,” District Attorney Tom Quinn said.
