Fall River man sentenced for repeatedly raping close pre-teen family member
A 31-year-old Fall River man was convicted last week of raping his pre-teen close family member on numerous occasions and sentenced to serve 15 to 17 years in state prison, Bristol County District Attorney Thomas M. Quinn III announced.
Raymond Bullock pleaded guilty to indictments charging him with eight counts of rape of a child—aggravated by age, three counts of indecent assault and battery on a person under 14 and one count of incest.
On March 22, 2018, the victim disclosed to a friend that the defendant had been raping and molesting her regularly for several years. During a forensic interview, the victim disclosed that the defendant would come into her bed at night, or would wake her up late at night/early in the morning to watch TV with him in the living room. The defendant would then abuse her. The defendant has touched the victim’s breasts, vagina, and buttocks over and under clothes on multiple occasions. Additionally, the defendant inserted his penis and fingers into the victim’s vagina and anus on more than one occasion. According to the victim, the abuse began when she was 11 and continued for about two years.
Police placed the defendant under arrest on March 22, 2018. During a recorded interview, after being advised of and waiving his Miranda rights, the defendant admitted to abusing the victim.
The case was prosecuted by Assistant District Attorney Gillian Kirsch and the 15 to 17 year state prison term was imposed by Judge Raffi Yessayan. The defendant was also placed on supervised probation for 10 years, which will commence upon his eventual release from prison.
The conditions of the defendant’s probation include:
· Register as a Sex Offender
· Complete sex offender treatment
· Mental health evaluation and treatment
· Stay away, no contact with victim, victim’s mother, mother’s other children
· No unsupervised contact with children under 16
· No supervised contact with children under 16
· Do not reside with children under 16
· Do not engage in a dating relationship with anyone who has minor children without first obtaining approval from the probation department
· GPS with exclusion zones—stay at least 1 mile away from victim’s home
· No employment/volunteering with minors under the age of 16
“This sentence holds the defendant accountable for repeatedly molesting his own family member. It is very sad that the victim, who I am sure at one point loved and trusted the defendant, was subjected to this type of reprehensible behavior,” District Attorney Quinn said. “She did nothing wrong and I hope she can move past this traumatic ordeal.”
