A Fall River man who was known for spreading his joyful and friendly demeanor to members of the community has died.

According to an obituary and a GoFundMe fundraiser, 54-year-old Michael Vilao, known to many as Mikey, passed away on Wednesday from Large Cell Lymphoma.

“Michael proudly served as a mail carrier, delivering not just letters and packages but also moments of joy and regular, friendly interactions that often brightened the days of many. His passion for life was contagious, and he had a natural knack for making those around him feel not just seen, but genuinely valued. He dedicated his time especially to the Joe Andruzzi Foundation, a non-profit organization that offers financial assistance to families affected by cancer.”

Friends and Family are cordially invited to attend a public visitation which will take place on Wednesday, January 21, 2026, 08:30 AM – 10:00 AM at Southcoast Funeral Home, inside of the Ferreira Chapel, 1555 Pleasant Street, Fall River, Massachusetts, 02723. This will be followed by a Funeral Home Service at 10:00 AM inside the funeral home and a Committal Service at 11:00 am at the Notre Dame Cemetery, Stafford Road, Fall River.
