Fall River man killed in Route 24 crash in Freetown

Massachusetts State Police have announced the name of the man killed in last night’s crash on Route 24 in Freetown.

According to MSP, the victim was initially reported to be a 34-year-old male, his actual age is 49-years-old. He has been identified as David Goncalo of Fall River.

At approximately 7:45 p.m. Tuesday, troopers assigned to State Police-Middleboro and State Police-Dartmouth responded to a single vehicle crash on Route 24 northbound North of Exit 10 in Freetown. Troopers and EMT’s arrived on scene simultaneously and discovered that the operator, a 34-year-old male, was deceased. He was the only occupant in the vehicle.

Preliminary information shows the vehicle was being operated northbound when, for reasons still under investigation, it left the roadway and struck a tree causing fatal injuries to the operator.

The exact facts and circumstances of the crash remain under investigation by Troop D of the Massachusetts State Police with assistance from the Bristol County State Police Detective Unit, Collision Analysis Reconstruction Section, and Crime Scene Services.
