A Fall River man killed in a weekend motorcycle crash is being remembered.

According to Tim McGuirk of Massachusetts State Police, shortly after 5:00 p.m. Saturday, State Police responded to a serious motorcycle crash involving 2 other vehicles, on Route 6 east in Somerset on Veterans Memorial Bridge before Route 79.

The motorcycle operator 34-year-old Eric Mareiro, was transported to a Fall River hospital where he was pronounced dead.

According to an obituary, Mareiro was born in New Bedford to Anthony Mareiro, Jr. and Terry Smith Brogan, and had resided in Fall River for several years.

Eric was employed as an iron worker for Southcoast Steel and a union member of Local 7 in Boston.

Those who knew Eric stated that he “had many interests including working out at the gym, body building and strong man competitions. He enjoyed riding his motorcycle, motocross biking, trucks of all kinds and a cold Bud Light. A big softy with a heart of gold, Eric had a loud, infectious and contagious laugh. Most of all, he was the greatest father, brother and uncle who will be missed beyond words.”

Surviving in addition to his parents and fiancée Cassandra Seney, are his children, Bradley Mareiro and Thomas “TJ” Sousa; his sister, Jessica Lynne Mareiro and husband Tony Gupta; his brother, Thomas Brogan; his step-father, William Brogan; and many nieces, nephews and friends.

A Celebration of Eric’s Life will be announced in the near future.

Arrangements are in the care of Waring-Sullivan Home at Fairlawn, 180 Washington St., Fairhaven.

The crash is still under investigation.
