Fall River man injured, facing multiple charges, after crashing stolen dirt bike
A Fall River man is facing multiple charges after a Thursday evening crash.
According to Sergeant Moses Pereira, at approximately 9:30 p.m., the Fall River Police responded to the intersection of Rodman Street and Warren Street for a motor vehicle collision involving a Toyota SUV and a Yamaha dirt bike.
During his investigation, Officer Connor Levesque learned from witnesses that the operator of the dirt bike, a 31-year-old Fall River resident, failed to stop at the stop sign while traveling west on Warren Street, causing his vehicle to collide with the Toyota SUV which had the right of way at the intersection. There was no indication that the dirt bike operator attempted to stop at the stop sign.
The dirt bike, a Yamaha CRF450 was discovered to have been reported stolen out of Quincy, MA.
The operator of the dirt bike was transported to Rhode Island Hospital for treatment.
The rider was cited for multiple motor vehicle infractions to include negligent operation and unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle. He will also be charged with possession of the stolen dirt bike.
Due to the dirt bike rider’s injuries and his need for medical treatment, the Fall River Police Department will ask that he be summonsed into District Court. Therefore, his name is being withheld by police at this time.
The Major Crimes Division as well as the Accident Reconstruction Team continue to investigate the crash.
