Fall River man facing several firearm charges after arrest by Fall River Police
A city man is facing several gun charges after being arrested by Fall River Police early Thursday morning.
According to Det. Sergeant Moses Pereira, at just after 12:45 a.m., officers initiated a traffic stop in the area of Covel Street and Donnelly Street. As officers approached the operator and passenger of the vehicle, they observed what they recognized to be a gun case in the back seat of the vehicle. Upon inquiring about the gun case, officers were advised that there was a firearm under the front passenger seat.
Upon speaking with the passenger, Carlos Cunha, officers learned that he purchased the firearm in the state of Virginia, however he does not possess a license to carry in the State of Massachusetts where he currently resides.
Cunha was arrested and charged with carrying a loaded firearm without a license to carry, carrying a loaded large capacity firearm on a public way, possession of a large capacity feeding device (2 counts), and possession of ammunition without an FID card.
