A Fall River man has pled not guilty after being arrested on gun charges.
According to Det. Sergeant Moses Pereira, on September 3rd, while on patrol in the Niagara section of the city, Vice Detective McGuire observed a male known to him as 26-year-old Keyante Mills.
Det. McGuire and other members of the Vice, Gang, and Intelligence Unit were aware that Mills had an outstanding arrest warrant.
As detectives began to approach him, a brief foot pursuit ensued before Mills was taken into custody.
Following his arrest, officers located a bag that Mills allegedly discarded prior to running from police. Inside the bag, detectives discovered a black Smith and Wesson 9mm firearm.
In addition to the outstanding arrest warrant, Keyante Mills was charged with carrying a firearm without a license to carry, carrying a loaded firearm without a license to carry, possession of a large capacity firearm, receiving a firearm with defaced serial number, and receiving stolen property.
Mills had previously been released on a GPS Monitoring bracelet for firearms related charges which he allegedly removed.
On October 31st, Mills was indicted in Fall River Superior Court.
On Tuesday, he was arraigned in that same court where he pled not guilty to all charges.
Mills was ordered held without bail pending a December 4th dangerousness hearing.
