A Fall River man out on bail on another charge was arraigned in a Fall River court on a drug charge.

According to police, last month, members of the Fall River Police Department CAST Unit, working alongside ESU, executed a search warrant at a residence on the 200 block of Hamlet Street in connection with a crack cocaine investigation.

Upon arrival, detectives detained the target suspect of the search warrant, 36-year-old Leon Shelby outside the residence. Shelby is currently on GPS monitored bail for the charge of Accessory After the Fact (murder) in connection to a 2023 fatal shooting in Brockton.

During the search, detectives located multiple packages totaling to just over 92 grams of suspected cocaine and crack cocaine, multiple digital scales, packaging materials, a drug ledger, and more than six thousand dollars in cash. All contraband was seized and transported to the police station for evidence processing.

Shelby was placed under arrest and charged with Trafficking in Cocaine (36 grams or more, less than 100 grams).

According to court records, at his initial arraignment in Fall River District Court, he pled not guilty and was held without bail pending a dangerousness hearing.

On Wednesday, Shelby pled not guilty in Fall River Superior Court and had bail set at $50,000 surety/$5,000 cash after a dangerousness hearing. Upon posting bail, among the conditions of Shelby’s release is GPS monitoring.

A pretrial conference is scheduled for January 23rd.
