A Fall River man is facing several charges after being apprehended by multiple organizations.

According to Somerset Police, this month, Detective Don Cormier investigated the report of two masked individuals who gained entry to a Somerset resident’s home by “kicking in” the front door before demanding money from the residents. Evidence gathered indicated that Davonta Davis of Fall River, also known by the moniker of “Freak,” was involved in the burglary. Detective Cormier applied for an arrest warrant for Davis and an operation to capture Davis was initiated with the assistance of the Massachusetts State Police Commonwealth Interstate Narcotics Reduction Enforcement Team (CINRET) South.

On Thursday, the Somerset Police Detective Division, with the assistance of law enforcement partners from the Massachusetts State Police Violent Fugitive Apprehension Section, Massachusetts State Police CINRET South, Somerset Police Department’s Patrol Division, and Swansea Police Detective Division apprehended Davis. Davis was located in Somerset and attempted to flee from police but was ultimately apprehended and placed into custody. A bag of suspected Fentanyl was discarded by Davis during the foot pursuit but was located by investigators. The bag of suspected Fentanyl was later weighed to be approximately 100 grams, which is approximately 10 times greater than the lowest threshold for trafficking that substance in the state of Massachusetts. The recovered suspected Fentanyl has an approximate value of $10,000.

In addition to the arrest warrant, Davis was also charged with Trafficking Fentanyl (100 grams). The charges on the arrest warrant are as follows: Unarmed Burglary and three counts of Vandalizing a property.

Davis was held without bail with an arraignment scheduled for Monday.

Chief of Police William Tedford recognized and congratulated the SPD Detective Division for their hard work and tenacity on following this case to a successful conclusion. Detectives worked tirelessly for many hours and were rewarded for their efforts with another outstanding arrest of a career criminal and the seizure of a large quantity of deadly narcotics.

The Somerset Police Department thanked the following agencies for providing assistance/information that led to the capture of Davis: Massachusetts State Police CINRET South, Massachusetts State Police VFAS unit, United States Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), United States Secret Service, Fall River Police CAST Unit and the Swansea Massachusetts Police Department.
