Fall River man allegedly stabbed to death in New Bedford by family member from Puerto Rico
Massachusetts State Police Detectives assigned to the district attorney’s office, New Bedford Police and Homicide Unit prosecutors are actively investigating a homicide, which occurred in New Bedford Saturday.
According to Jennifer Sowa of the Bristol County District Attorney’s Office, in the early afternoon, New Bedford Police were dispatched to 68 South Street. When police arrived, they discovered 23-year-old Omil Padilla-Corsino suffering from life threatening stab wounds.
Padilla-Corsino was transported to St. Luke’s Hospital where he was pronounced deceased a short time later.
Records show that Padilla-Corsino lived in Fall River.
Detectives from the Massachusetts State Police assigned to the Bristol County District Attorney’s Office along with Detectives from the New Bedford Police Department have identified suspect 42-year-old Juan Padilla-Santana of Puerto Rico who is in custody and charged with murder.
Through the investigation, police learned that the suspect is a relative of the decedent and the stabbing followed an argument amongst family members inside of 68 South Street.
It is expected that Padilla-Santana will be arraigned in the New Bedford District Court Monday morning.
