FALL RIVER – Corree K. Gonzales, the man accused of an unprovoked stabbing of former mayor Will Flanagan early Monday evening on Hartwell Street, will stay behind bars pending further psychological evaluations.

Gonzales,  31, has yet to be arraigned on charges that he stabbed Flanagan multiple times as he walked outside his place of business, Cosmopolitan, a marijuana dispensary operation.

Bristol County District Attorney Thomas Quinn III said after the District Court hearing that Gonzales could be held up to 20 days and beyond. He also is facing a Superior Court warrant on a matter involving his mother.

Dr . Katherine Henshall testified that she determined that Gonzales required further examination into his competency.

He is due back in court on Nov. 10.
