Fall River man accused of spitting blood at paramedic, kicking an officer, breaking windows of home
A city man is facing several charges after an incident in Fall River.
According to Deputy Chief Barden Castro, on Saturday, at approximately 12:00 p.m., officers responded to the 100 block of Eighteenth St. for reports of a disturbance.
Upon arrival, officers detained Jose Santa, a 43-year-old Fall River resident. Santa who was walking away from the area was observed to be bleeding from the mouth by officers, so an ambulance was called to provide an evaluation.
While speaking with a paramedic, Santa spit blood into their face while also attempting to spit on other responders as well. He continued to be combative with first responders kicking a police officer while flailing his legs and uttering threats. He was subsequently transported to Charlton memorial Hosptial for treatment.
It was learned that Santa had allegedly broken the windows of a residence in the area prior to police arrival.
Santa was charged with Breaking & Entering in the Daytime for a Felony, Assault & Battery with a Dangerous Weapon, Assault & Battery on a Police Officer, Assault & Battery on Ambulance Personnel, and Assault with a Dangerous Weapon.
