Fall River infant, who overdosed on fentanyl, had part of brain, skull and one vertebrae removed
An 11-month-old girl who police said was a victim of a fentanyl overdose, had to undergo brain and spine surgery.
According to the Herald News and a police report, the infant was brought to St. Anne’s Hospital and eventually transported to Hasbro Children’s Hospital where the surgery was performed.
The Fall River Police Department captured Kevin Baker, 39, and Lynne Servant, 35, both of Fall River, who were charged in the incident.
Baker and Servant were arrested by the Fall River Police without incident after warrants were issued charging Baker and Servant with one charge of Permit injury to a child.
The child was last known to be listed in stable condition.
According to the police report, Baker’s mother, who is the legal guardian of the child, left the baby in the hands of Servant while she ran some errands.
The mother told police that she was given custody due to the couple being heavily involved in drugs.
The couple brought the baby into St. Anne’s Hospital stating that the baby hadn’t been feeling well all week.
It was revealed by police that the couple had given the 11-month-old narcan prior to bringing her to the hospital.
According to the report, a nurse at the hospital stated that the couple denied having chemicals or drugs that the baby could have accessed.
The baby had to have part of her brain, skull, and one of her vertebrae removed during the surgery due to the overdose, according to the report.
The couple’s bail has been set at $50,000.

Just so you get the story straight I am the grandmother to the baby If I had any Idea that they were using again I would have never let them near her. Has far as I knew they were clean for 7 months I would bring the baby to them if I had appointments or errands to run thanks to the covid 19 epicadem I was afraid to take her out so I though it was ok My son and Lynne wear very good wit her very caring and atenive with her I made a poor judgement that day witch I will have to live with for the rest of my life. They did not have her 5 days like her they say. The person they live with says.She stays in her room almost all the day dew to sickness she did not what was going on in her house we all though they were doing good so please pray for our little angel

Gave this baby no “choice,” so sob story will change that. This is disgusting on so many levels, this baby deserves justice.

This is so disturbing. If the grandmother had custody because of severe drug use then she should have known better then to leave her unsupervised with the people she was taken from. This is the problem with the child protective services, they take the kids and then leave them with people who will allow the original perpetrators access.
