Fall River home struck by lightning as storms once again cause damage

While it didn’t quite pack the punch that the storm did on Thursday, Fall River still saw damage from Tuesday’s weather.

The South Coast saw quick-hitting heavy rain early Tuesday evening and packed with it was powerful lightning strikes. One of those strikes hit a Fall River home.

A call came into dispatch for a possible lightning strike at 459 South Beach Street. A multi-family.

According to scanner transmissions, firefighters arrived on scene and confirmed the strike but found no fire or extensive damage to the inside of the chimney or the attic.

The electricity was shut off to the structure and the building inspector was called to the scene.

In addition to the lightning strike, several areas in the city flooded which popped at least one manhole cover.
