Fall River Holiday Parade canceled for 2020
One of, if not the biggest, highlight on the Fall River schedule has been canceled for 2020 and is yet another victim of the COVID-19 pandemic.
The 36th Annual Fall River Children’s Holiday Parade will have to wait until at least 2021.
The parade is one of the largest Children’s Holiday Parades in New England and typically features a number of High School Bands throughout New England, Giant Parade Balloons, Local Fire and Police Departments, Beautifully Decorated Floats, Marching Groups, Motorized Units, and Costume Characters. Mr. and Mrs. Santa also make an appearance.
The parade, which takes place in early to mid December, begins at Kennedy Park, goes down South Main Street to Central Street and ends at the corner of Central and Bedford Street.
When we contacted the Holiday Parade Committee, they delivered the sad news.
“Unfortunately, due to COVID-19, the parade will not be held this year. We wish it would have been different.”
Following all of the COVID-19 protocols would have been extremely difficult so it is very understandable that the parade would have to be nixed. Hopefully it will be back bigger and better than ever next year!
