Following the success of August’s Citywide Clean Up Competition, Mayor Paul Coogan is excited to announce another rendition of the contest.

This “Clean Up Competition” encourages groups of citizens to team up and beautify a city area of their choosing anytime during the month of October.

Trash collection, landscaping, sweeping and approved repairs to private or city property are all encouraged. Workplaces, sports teams, neighborhood associations, community organizations, landscaping companies and groups of friends or family are all invited to participate. Participants are reminded to adhere to Covid-19 safety protocols while doing their independent clean-ups and to post their progress on social media with the hashtag #CleanUpFallRiver.

To enter the contest, groups must send before and after photos of the cleaned area to mayor@fallriverma.org, along with information about the group members, before noon on Friday, October 30th. An independent judge, to be announced, will determine the first, second and third place winners based on group size, area size and the change made to the area.

Monetary prizes of $300, $200 and $100 will be given to the winners, who will be announced at the City of Fall River and Re-Creation’s Drive-in Movie on October 30th at Durfee High School.
