Fall River Forever Paws looking for public’s help after dogs surrendered with serious health issues

Forever Paws in Fall River has 2 dogs at the shelter that are in desperate need of 2 separate foster homes and their situation is a little different than a normal foster as they are both special needs and need extensive medical treatment.

According to Forever Paws the following two dogs were both surrendered. One to Forever Paws directly and another to Fall River Animal Control.

Tyson is a 10-month-old French Bulldog mix who has a horrible skin infection, a heart murmur and a broken leg that will need to be amputated. He will need to be given medication and given medicated baths 2x a week. He will also need to be taken to the veterinarian for rechecks, an echo, and leg surgery. (Forever Paws can bring him to the appointments but the foster needs to be able to bring him to them when needed.) This will be a long-term foster as they would like him to stay in one place while all of this is going on and he can heal.

Velma is a 5-year-old English Bulldog that came in severely emaciated. She has chronic skin, eye and ear issues that Forever Paws hopes to correct, and she will also need to be medicated multiple times daily, as well as getting medicated baths twice a week. She will need to come back to them every 2 weeks for weight checks, as well as scheduled recheck appointments. FP needs to monitor her health to make sure she shows improvement before they can go forward with advanced medical options and put her up for adoption.

Forever Paws has no history on these dogs, so no small children. Due to the condition that they are in, the shelter needs to make sure that the fosters are someone who has experience with administering medications and who understands the task that it is. They do not know how the two are with other dogs, so a home where they are the only one would be preferred.

According to Forever Paws, these two pups have a long road ahead of them before they find their forever family.
