Fall River Firefighters to honor fallen brothers in ceremony
Fall River Firefighters will be taking time to reflect and remember for Firefighter Memorial Sunday.
Firefighter Memorial Sunday is held each year in June to honor all active and retired firefighters who have passed away during the past year.
The service will be conducted on Sunday June 9, 2019 at 8:45 a.m. at the Firefighter Memorial located in Kennedy Park on the intersection of South Main and Middle Street.
Following the ceremony, a breakfast will be held at Atlantic Sports on Shove Street in Tiverton, RI.
The event holds a special place in the Fall River community and in particular the firefighter community such as union president Jason Burns.
“The event is specifically to honor all of the members we lost since the last Firefighter memorial last year and additionally to honor every line of duty death we’ve experienced in our history.”
The monument currently has 22 names etched who died in the line of duty.
Firefighter CJ Ponte will be hosting the service.
Speakers will include:
Fire Chief John Lynch
FR. Michael Racine
Mayor Jasiel Correia
The public is encouraged to attend the Kennedy Park ceremony.
