Fall River firefighters make technical rescue at construction site of new Diman Regional school

A rescue was made Thursday morning at a new school being built in Fall River.
According to the Fall River Firefighter Union, this morning, members of Ladder 4 and Heavy Rescue 1 responded for a technical rescue at the construction site of the new Diman Regional Vocational Technical High School on Stonehaven Road.
Firefighters arrived to find that a worker sustained injuries on the roof, requiring a high-angle rescue operation.
Crews swiftly deployed the aerial ladder to safely bring the patient to the ground, where EMS personnel took over patient care.
The union noted that aerial ladders are not just for fighting fires—they play a critical role in many rescue operations, including high-angle rescues, evacuations, and accessing difficult locations.
“Whether it’s a fire, a medical emergency, or a technical rescue, having the right equipment ensures we can safely and effectively protect the people of Fall River!”
Heavy Rescue 1 is a specialized apparatus designed to handle a wide range of emergencies, from technical rescues and vehicle extrications to hazardous materials incidents and structural collapses. Equipped with advanced tools such as hydraulic rescue tools (Jaws of Life), high-angle rope systems, cutting torches, air bags, and more, the unit ensures firefighters can tackle any challenge that comes their way.
