The Fall River Fire Department responded to two separate structure fires, resulting in the displacement of multiple residents. The first fire occurred late in the afternoon at 110 Bradford Avenue, followed by a second incident in the early morning hours at 101 Fenner Street.
According to the Fall River Fire Department, firefighters responded to reports of a structure fire at a three-story, multi-family dwelling at 110 Bradford Avenue. Multiple 911 calls while crews were enroute prompted the dispatch of additional resources. Upon arrival, smoke was observed coming from a second-floor bedroom. Crews advanced hose lines, conducted primary and secondary searches, and quickly contained the fire to the second floor, with limited extension into upper areas.
No injuries were reported.
Utility services were secured as a precaution.
Three families, consisting of nine adults and three children, were displaced, and Emergency Management officials assisted affected residents.
The Fall River Fire Department also stated that shortly after midnight, firefighters responded to a structure fire at another three-story, multi family residence at 101 Fenner Street. Crews encountered fire on the second floor and quickly brought the blaze under control confining it to the area of origin. All occupants had self-evacuated prior to the Fire Department’s arrival.
One resident was transported to Charlton Memorial Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries by Emergency Management Services.
Six adults and three children were displaced. Emergency Management officials assisted residents.
No firefighter injuries were reported.
National Grid secured electrical service, and Liberty Utilities secured natural gas service.
The Fall River Fire Department’s Fire Investigation Unit determined both fires to be accidental. The fire at 110 Bradford Avenue was caused by an electrical malfunction, while the fire at 101 Fenner Street was caused by the careless disposal of smoking materials.
The Fall River Fire Department reminds residents to maintain working smoke alarms on every level of the home, properly dispose of smoking materials, and have electrical concerns evaluated by qualified professionals.
The Department thanked Emergency Management partners, EMS, and utility companies for
their assistance and commended firefighters for their swift and coordinated response.
