Fall River Fire Department knocks down early morning blaze that displaced multiple families
The Fall River Fire Department extinguished an early morning fire at a 3-story multi-family home.
Just after 4:15 a.m. a call came into dispatch for a fire at 87 Tuttle Street with several families still in the building and described as a heater in the dining room that blew up.
Upon arrival, crews located flames coming from the second floor with windows blown out.
While battling the flames, firefighters checked the apartments for occupants.
Despite heavy fire, the flames were quickly knocked down.
According to the Firefighter Union, responding units included Engine 2, Engine 4, Engine 5, Ladder 2, Ladder 4, Heavy Rescue 1, Car 2, and Car 3.
No injuries were reported and multiple families were displaced.
The building inspector and fire investigator were called to the scene.
According to the union, the 4 firefighters on the 3 engine companies made a significant difference but more staffing is still needed.
“We still need 4 firefighters on all 3 ladders, Heavy Rescue and both District Chief Aides to be staffed to the minimum which we are hoping for in the near future.”
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
