Fall River Fire Department extinguishes afternoon fire at three story residential building

Fall River firefighters made quick work of an afternoon residential blaze in the city.

According to scanner transmissions, a call came into dispatch for flames showing just before 4:30 p.m. at 166 Mott Street with a possible explosion and the caller unsure if it was gas related.

Upon arrival, crews encountered a fire on the second floor in the ceiling of the 3-story structure located in the back of the building in the kitchen area.

There appeared to be no injuries, but residents on all three floors are displaced.

The fire is under investigation.
