Fall River Fire Department battles blaze at 6-family home

Fall River firefighters extinguished an evening fire at a multi-family 3-story structure.

According to scanner transmissions, just before 7:00 p.m., a call came into dispatch for a fire with flames showing in a shaft at 878 Cambridge Street with residents evacuating. The caller stated that sparks could also be seen from downstairs.

Upon arrival, crews encountered a good amount of smoke coming from the third floor of the 6-family residence.

Crews also had a line in the basement.

Utilities and a fire investigator were called to the scene.

The fire was knocked down in approximately 15 minutes.
