Due to it’s success, the new Farmer’s Market in Fall River is moving indoors as the temperatures get colder.

The Farmer’s Market, who accepts SNAP (EBT cards), HIP (Health Incentive Program), senior checks, cash, credit, and debit, will continue at HealthFirst Community Health Center on Quarry Street. The Farmers’ Market will run from 2:00 to 5:00 PM in October and November on the second and fourth Wednesdays of the Month. October 9th, 23rd, November 13th, and 27th.

The Healthy Incentive Program (HIP) allows SNAP (EBT card holders) recipients to pay for produce at approved Farmers Markets and Farm Stands and have the dollars spent replaced immediately into the SNAP/EBT card- dollar for dollar up to a specified limit. People who think they might qualify for SNAP or have questions about qualifications or the application process, should call Catholic Social Services at 508-674-4681, Citizens for Citizens 508- 679- 0041 or the Fall River Office of the Department of Transitional Assistance. Eligibility is income based, but home ownership is allowed, and medical costs including prescriptions, some travel, and other expenses can be deducted from your income resulting in eligibility.
