Erinn Lanczycki , Fall River District Court Probation Officer II, was honored with the Benjamin C. Barnes-Women’s Recovery Court Session Award for her work in the Fall River Court and community. Lanczycki is a 27-year MPS employee.

“Probation Officer II Lanczycki has been working with participants in Recovery Court for almost a decade. She and the Recovery Team do tremendous work with individuals who are living with a substance use disorder, and in some cases have saved lives. We are extremely proud of POII Lanczycki and she is truly deserving of the 2025 Benjamin C. Barnes Award,” said Fall River District Court Chief Probation Officer Mark Costa.

The award was presented at the annual Women’s Recovery Court Session at Anthony’s in Malden. The event, a celebration of recovery and sobriety, drew more than 200 women in the recovery community as well as their supporters, court and local leaders.

“I have learned so much about recovery working in this role for the past 10 years and I look forward to continuing this work in an effort to help women and men obtain recovery and sustain it. To witness lives change and recidivism reduced has made this work very rewarding,” said Lanczycki.

The award is named in honor of Edgartown District Court First Justice Benjamin Barnes who created this celebration of recovery for women 12, years ago with Judy Lawler, retired Malden Assistant Chief Probation Officer, and Katie O’Leary, Recovery Director at North Suffolk Community Services. The first session was held at Chelsea District Court.

Lanczycki also started a Fall River Recovery Court Alumni Group which meets monthly to support each other in their sobriety journey.

“It is so rewarding to hear about their transformations, their new jobs and growing families in some cases. Their common thread is they graduated from the Fall River Recovery Court and they are all working diligently to maintain their sobriety while living honest lives,” she said.
