Fall River Director of Veterans Services announces why he is running for State Representative and what his priorities are
FALL RIVER, MA — Talos Farris, a veteran and current Director of Veterans Services for the City of Fall River, has officially pulled nomination papers and announced his candidacy as a Republican for State Representative in the 7th Bristol District.
According to a release, Farris enters the race under the banner of “Real Leadership. Real Change,” calling for engaged representation grounded in steady judgment, common-sense legislation, and measurable results for families across Fall River and the surrounding communities.
“Our district deserves leadership that shows up, listens, and delivers,” Farris said. “Affordability didn’t just become an issue overnight. Families here have been feeling economic pressure for years. Housing costs, rising expenses, and uncertainty have made it harder to get ahead. We need legislation that reflects the realities of our community and produces real, measurable relief.”
A longtime advocate for veterans, seniors, and working families, Farris brings more than two decades of leadership experience spanning military service, public administration, and community engagement. In his current role, he works directly with residents to navigate housing stability, access earned benefits, and coordinate with public safety agencies to ensure responsive support.
“As Fall River enters a period of major transformation, including waterfront redevelopment and long-term infrastructure investment, we must ensure growth benefits the people who already live and work here,” Farris said. “Beacon Hill needs to hear the 7th Bristol District and respond with action.”
If elected, Farris states he will prioritize the following:
- Strengthening public safety while ensuring first responders have the personnel, equipment, and infrastructure necessary to protect our communities
- Advancing responsible tax and energy policies that ease cost pressures on working families
- Addressing long-standing housing challenges with sustainable, locally grounded solutions
- Supporting veterans and seniors with consistent advocacy and improved access to services
- Promoting economic policies that empower small businesses and drive job growth in the district
“We cannot afford complacency,” Farris added. “The 7th Bristol District deserves engaged, authentic leadership focused on measurable results. I am ready to serve.”
Farris will begin collecting signatures immediately as he moves forward in the 2026 election cycle.
Alan Silvia has represented the 7th Bristol District in the Massachusetts House of Representatives since January 2013 with his current term running until January of 2027.
The district covers part of Fall River.
