Stated by Fall River City Council President Cliff Ponte Jr in his Friday press conference and confirmed by Council Vice President Pam Laliberte-Lebeau, the Council will be holding a meeting to discuss their next move concerning the dispute between themselves and Jasiel Correia II.

The meeting is scheduled to take place Wednesday at 5:15 p.m. and may be done so in executive session.

Laliberte-Lebeau released a statement on social media concerning the meeting and recent developments.

“In light of the Mayor not adhering to the Order of the City Council that he temporarily step down as of 5:00 today, the City Council President has called a Special Meeting of the City Council on Wednesday, September 18th at 5:15. The Council has retained the services of KP Law, who will be in attendance. The City Council will take any discussion on necessary legal action in Executive Session. I do hope the Mayor chooses to comply with the Order, and take care of his legal problems privately, thereby lessening the media spotlight directed at the City of Fall River.”
