Fall River cafe announces initiative to grow herbs in planters for community members at no charge

A Fall River spot known for its unique style, tasty treats, and giving back, is once again launching an initiative to help the community.
Christopher’s at 1816 South Main Street is aiming to help others eat with healthier ingredients as they announced a new “experiment” on Monday.
“You know a lot of times in a lot of inner-city neighborhoods like the one my cafe is in, people don’t always have the ability to cook with natural, healthy ingredients. For cost, availability or just lack of knowledge, it’s cheaper, unhealthy food that is readily available. Starting this week around the cafe we will start to plant some fresh herbs in raised planters around the cafe for our neighborhood to explore and cook with free of charge. This is kind of another crazy experiment of mine so bear with me. In addition, we will have recipe cards and such to make it affordable and family friendly. Stay tuned while the beds are being made.”

This isn’t the first time that Christopher’s has given back.
Outside of 1816 South Main Street they often have free fruits, veggies, and now breads for those in need.
In a previous year, they posted on social media that due to the heat and receiving free product, they would be giving out free water with no questions asked.
The eatery has also combined with community members to host drives, clean-ups, and feeding of the homeless.
Christopher’s is known for a rotating menu of breakfast items, fresh baked goods, breads, croissants, bagels, pretzels, salads, to go meals, gourmet sandwiches, iced/hot coffee, house made soups, charcuterie boards, cakes, pies, pastries, and a variety of cookies and desserts from around the world.
In addition to the 1816 South Main Street location, Christopher’s recently opened the former cafeteria at Traveler’s Insurance at 99 South Main Street.
